Is there actually a market here?

  • 👉 Measured units from Amazon's own published figures — not a panel's model
  • 👉 Runs from a search term or a single ASIN — no Seller Central access
  • 👉 Shelf control, price corridor, entry cost, and the segments inside the niche

Brand Due Diligence Report — verdict page

Search volume is curiosity. This measures demand.

Most niche research tools answer a question nobody is actually asking: how many people searched. People search for things they never buy, and buy things they never search for — repeat purchase, Subscribe & Save, traffic that never touched a search bar. A keyword tool cannot tell those apart.

This report starts from what Amazon itself publishes about units sold, and reads the shelf a shopper actually sees — the products Amazon ranks for one search term, in the order it ranks them. That set is the niche. Everything else here is measured against it: who holds it, at what price, moving which way, and what a new entrant would be up against.

What's in the record

Who holds the shelf

Concentration by brand and separately by seller account — one account can front several labels, and a shelf that looks like eight brands is sometimes three sellers. Buy-box control, fulfilment mix, and how many listings are genuinely competing.

What it measurably sells

Units and revenue from Amazon's own published per-listing figures, plus which way that is moving over time. Reported as measured floors, never as a category total — and marked unmeasured where Amazon publishes nothing.

What entering would cost

Referral and FBA fees computed at the prices competitors actually hold, the niche's price corridor, and the review barrier a new listing has to clear. Plus the segments inside the niche and what distinguishes each.

Inside the record

Every record is a print-grade PDF built from live Amazon data at run time.

What the record reads like

Two real records, on two real Amazon shelves. Every figure in them was measured on the date shown.

A deep shelf where paid placement is the cost of entry
Face Mists · US · 30 listings analysed in depth.
  • The Shelf: Amazon ranks around 7,000 listings for the term. One in five ranked placements read was paid.
  • What It Sells: A measured floor of 280,100 units last month across the analysed head — not a category total.
  • Entry Cost: A price corridor from $4.80 to $30.00, and three distinct segments inside the one shelf.
  • The Limits: Keyword coverage was cut short by a provider rate limit. The measured figures are unaffected, and the record says so.

A larger market moving far more slowly than its size suggests
Hair Treatment Oils · US · 29 listings analysed in depth.
  • The Shelf: Around 30,000 ranked listings — four times the Face Mists shelf, at a similar 22% paid share.
  • What It Sells: A floor of 399,900 units last month, but measured units up only 14% against Face Mists' 281%.
  • Entry Cost: A corridor from $1.66 to $88.00 — the widest signal in the record that this is several markets wearing one name.
  • The Limits: Direction is measured across the listings carrying tracked history, not the whole shelf. The record states which.

Who buys this

Acquirers, after the LOI

A Brand Evaluation tells you the brand depends on four niches. This tells you what those niches actually are — and whether the revenue sitting in them is defensible.

Sellers evaluating entry

Before committing to a sourcing run or a product launch. What the shelf really sells, who you would be competing with, and what the fees and review barrier come to.

Consultants & advisors

A defensible, forwardable artefact on a client's category — measured figures with their limits stated, in ten minutes.

Frequently asked

How is this different from Helium 10 or Jungle Scout?
Those are data tools — they hand you tables and you do the synthesis. This is a synthesised document: it draws the niche boundary, measures what the shelf sells, works out what entering costs, and states plainly what it could not establish. You are buying the conclusion and its provenance, not the raw feed.
Where do the units come from?
Amazon's own published "bought in the past month" figures per listing, aggregated across the analysed shelf. They are measured lower bounds — Amazon publishes them only for some listings and only in brackets, and we read the head of the shelf rather than every listing on it. The record says so wherever a figure appears.
What exactly is a "niche" here?
The set of products Amazon ranks for one search term — the shelf a shopper actually sees and chooses between. Not a browse category: browse nodes are a filing system, and they group products that never appear on the same page as each other.
Do you need access to my Seller Central?
No. The record runs against Amazon's public-facing catalog plus independent commercial marketplace data. You provide a search term or an ASIN.
Does it tell me whether to enter?
No, and deliberately. It measures the market and states what it could not establish; the entry decision depends on your cost basis, your capital, and your appetite — none of which we can see. A record that issued a verdict on evidence it doesn't have would be worth less, not more.
What if the market turns out not to exist?
You are not charged. We confirm Amazon ranks products for your term before checkout, and if we can't check at all, you can proceed and we refund automatically if the analysis comes back empty.

What this is NOT

Honest about what we don't claim.

  • ✖  Not a keyword tool — Search terms appear as an attention signal, not as demand. Curiosity and purchase are different measurements, and this record keeps them apart.
  • ✖  Not a demand forecast — It measures what the shelf has sold and which way that is moving. It does not project forward, and it will not tell you next quarter.
  • ✖  Not a brand report — This reads one market. To evaluate a specific brand's whole Amazon footprint, use Brand Due Diligence.
  • ✖  Not a verdict — There is no Green/Yellow/Red here. A market is not good or bad in the abstract — it is good or bad relative to your cost basis, which is yours to know.
