Competitive Benchmarking

How you actually compare — not how you assume.

  • Your product vs. up to 10 named competitor ASINs, measured on the same shelf
  • Trajectory, not a single snapshot — price, rank and review history, so you see who's rising and who's discounting to hold on
  • Keyword gaps classified by type, plus a SWOT and a competitive-position verdict

A snapshot tells you who's bigger today. It doesn't tell you who's winning.

Price, sales, reviews and rank, read at a single moment, answer the wrong question. A competitor cutting price to defend share and a competitor earning share at a stable price can show the same numbers today and mean opposite things tomorrow.

This report starts with the side-by-side — your product against each named competitor on price, sales, reviews, rating and Best Seller Rank — then adds the axis a snapshot can't show: price, rank and review history, so a discounting rival reads as a discounting rival rather than a stronger one. It closes with the keywords each competitor holds on page one that you don't, and a SWOT and competitive-position verdict drawn directly from those measurements.

What's in the report

The matchup

Your product beside each named competitor on price, sales, reviews, rating and BSR — measured on the same shelf, at the same moment. Backed by price and rank history, so a discounting rival reads as exactly that, not as a stronger position.

Shelf exposure gaps

Terms a competitor holds on page one that your product does not, read off Amazon's own ranked pages and classified Absent, Behind, or Renting (visible only through a paid slot where a competitor ranks organically for free). Each gap is further typed — a product feature, a generic category term, or a competitor's own brand name, which Amazon's terms put off limits.

SWOT and a verdict

Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats built from the measurements above, plus a competitive-position reading and the specific actions it supports. The verdict is a view of the data the report also shows you — not a second opinion layered on top.

What the report reads like

The matchup, the exposure gaps and the verdict, built from your own product and the competitors you name.

Who buys this

Acquirers, against a target's real field

A Brand Evaluation tells you a brand's position on its own shelf. This tells you how it stands against the specific competitors you'd actually be competing with after you own it.

Sellers protecting a hero product

The listing carrying your revenue, checked against the rivals who would actually notice if you changed price — not the category's biggest names by default.

Consultants & advisors

A defensible, forwardable comparison on a client's product and its named field, with sourced keyword gaps ready for a listing brief.

Frequently asked

How is this different from Brand Evaluation?
Brand Evaluation reads a whole brand's channel — footprint, concentration, control, niche dependence. This reads one product against the specific competitors you name. Run Brand Evaluation first to find which ASIN carries the weight, then benchmark that ASIN against its real field.
Where does the trajectory come from?
Price, rank and review history, not just today's reading. Two competitors can show identical numbers right now and be in opposite positions — one earning share, one buying it with a price cut — and the history is what tells those apart.
What if one of my competitor ASINs is wrong?
Your own product is verified before you pay — that's the zero-footprint check. A competitor ASIN is checked for a well-formed format, not pre-verified against Amazon; if the run can't read a named competitor, the report says so for that one rather than guessing.
Do I need Seller Central access?
No. You provide your ASIN and your competitors' ASINs; the report runs against public Amazon data and independent commercial marketplace data.
Can I target a keyword gap freely?
Depends on the type. A feature-type gap (a real attribute your product has) is straightforward to add to your listing. A generic category term is a judgement call on positioning. A gap built from a competitor's own brand name or model number is off limits under Amazon's terms, and the report flags it as such rather than recommending it.
What if my own product can't be measured?
You're not charged. We confirm your product resolves before checkout, and refund automatically if the comparison comes back empty.

What this is NOT

Honest about what we don't claim.

  • Not a whole-brand read — This measures one product against named competitors. To read a brand's entire Amazon channel, use Brand Evaluation.
  • Not a pre-verification of your competitors — Only your own ASIN is confirmed before you pay. A competitor ASIN is format-checked; if it can't be read, the report says so rather than inventing a number.
  • Not a listing-writing service — Keyword gaps are classified and handed to you with their type. Writing the title, bullets and backend keywords from them is yours to do.
  • Not a verdict on the deal — The competitive-position verdict is a reading of the matchup — strengths, threats, and actions it supports. It is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or price a deal.
